The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy has retained Nonprofit HR to conduct this open search for their Development Manager.

The Development Manager will oversee TIMEP’s fundraising and development efforts by setting and implementing the institute’s fundraising strategy, building and maintaining lasting relationships with existing and prospective donors, identifying new funding opportunities, and managing the grant application and reporting process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sets and executes annual development strategy.
  • Leads efforts to diversify and expand funding sources and to prospect and conduct research on new donors, particularly high net-worth individuals and foundations.
  • Maintains relationships with existing donors and provides updates on the institute’s strategy and successes.
  • Represents the institute in communications and meetings with both current and new donors.
  • Works with department heads to identify, discuss, and refine fundable programs and ways to package these programs in grant proposals to donors.
  • Manages the drafting and submission of grant proposals, grant reports, and all solicitation materials, ensuring high quality standards are met.
  • Supervises Programs Assistant in his/her development-related work.
  • Leads the creation of outreach and communication tools to share updates about the institute’s successes and strategy with an eye towards donors.
  • Works with Programs Manager to refine institutional indicators and monitoring/evaluation tools so that they are leveraged for development purposes.


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5 years successful fundraising experience from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other institutional donors.
  • Experience in managing and tracking prospective donors.
  • Knowledge of grant reporting and fundraising procedures and legal compliance.
  • Ability to understand budgets and work within an approved budget.
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to build strong relationships with donors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and storytelling skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher) and Google Suite.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in TIMEP and in external environment, manage competing demands, and change approach or method to best fit situations.
  • Experience working in a team environment and balancing priorities and deadlines.
  • Commitment to being present at work and on time; to guarantee that work responsibilities are covered when absent; and to arrive at meetings and appointments on time.
  • Ability to manage staff by delegating work assignments; by setting expectations and monitoring delegated activities and providing feedback; and by providing recognition for results.

  • Commitment to working within the Institute’s environment as a member of the larger team to achieve general Institute goals.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; and uses equipment and materials properly.
