Title: Chief Advocacy Officer
Work Location: Hybrid – Washington, D.C.
Salary Range: $220,000-$230,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Offering generous and comprehensive benefits.
Reports To: Senior Chief Financial Officer

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) is a 501c(3) nonprofit and serves as  The Voice of Dental Education®. The Association’s mission is “to develop an inclusive, future-ready oral health workforce prepared to improve the health of all people and communities through leadership, education and collaboration.” As such, ADEA represents approximately 65,000 faculty, staff, students, administrators, residents, and fellows at U.S. and Canadian dental schools, allied dental education and advance dental education programs. Our activities encompass a wide range of research, advocacy, faculty and leadership development, meetings, news and publications, including the peer-reviewed Journal of Dental Education. We also offer centralized application services to support the recruitment, enrollment, and matriculation of individuals pursuing oral health education.  Learn more at www.adea.org. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Chief Advocacy Officer leads the Advocacy and Government Relations (AGR) division in ensuring that ADEA is heard and recognized by policymakers in local, state, and federal governments as the “voice of dental education”. The Chief Advocacy Office ensures a proactive presence by ADEA AGR staff in the halls of Congress, with the White House, federal agencies and State legislatures and agencies. Also, the Chief Advocacy Officer maintains relationships with higher education and health professions associations, organized dentistry, and others to collaborate and advocate for ADEA’s legislative and regulatory priorities. The Chief Advocacy Officer leads AGR staff in critiquing and analyzing legislation, policies, rules, regulations, and court decisions pertaining to oral health education, dental and craniofacial research and higher education at the congressional, federal agency and state levels to ensure ADEA’s interests and concerns are heard and addressed. This position reports to ADEA’s Senior Chief Financial Officer.
