WTOP: 5 ways nonprofits can…
Since 1997, the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation (SLPS Foundation) has existed to mobilize the community’s generosity and support the amazing educators and students within the Saint Louis Public Schools. SLPS Foundation is a strategy and fundraising partner of the St. Louis Public Schools District, serving more than 20,000 students (89% students of color) and incubating innovation to scale across the District. The SLPS Foundation raises and grants approximately $3.5M annually. The mission of the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation is to engage and focus local, regional and national support to promote educational success for St. Louis Public School District students. The vision of the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation is a reality in which ALL students, regardless of race or income status, have access to excellent educational instruction and opportunities that prepare them for fulfilling futures.
The Foundation is working closely with Saint Louis Public Schools’ Superintendent and other District leaders to raise funds and implement programs in critical areas, which are considered key levers to accelerating success. As a trusted, independent partner, the SLPS Foundation strategically pursues and manages external investments that have the potential to significantly impact student outcomes. As steward for these private dollars, the Foundation ensures that implementation goals are met, funds are used in strict accordance with donors’ intentions, and results are shared with the community. Currently, the Foundation funds four core parts of the District’s overall strategy. These include efforts and innovations in Early Childhood Education; College and Career Readiness; Student Wellbeing; and School Leader Attraction and Retention.
