WTOP: 5 ways nonprofits can…
HealthRIGHT 360 is a family of integrated health programs that provides compassionate care and treatment to over 38,000 individuals a year through more than 70 distinct and culturally competent programs in 13 California counties. The agency today is the product of a series of strategic mergers; as each organization joined our family of programs, it brought with it a legacy of service and connection to vulnerable and marginalized members of our communities across California. HealthRIGHT 360 gives hope, builds health, and changes lives for people in need. We do this by providing care that includes primary medical, mental health, substance use disorder treatment and re-entry services.
As HealthRIGHT 360 continues to experience significant growth and build upon its unique strengths, a search is underway for an experienced visionary Chief Administrative Officer. HealthRIGHT 360 has exclusively retained Nonprofit HR to assist in the recruitment efforts for its first Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Reporting to the CEO, the CAO will directly supervise leadership staff and lead operations, providing day-to-day oversight and management of staff and standards. S/he will develop, implement, and communicate effective operational strategies and processes of the agency’s administrative and support services including: Compliance, Human Resources, Transportation, Food Services, Facilities, and Risk Management. The CAO will also be responsible for restructuring departments as necessary to meet organizational needs.
The CAO will partner with peers, including the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Health Officer to assure that the agency’s administrative and support services operations are integrated, efficient, sustainable, and compliant with all relevant regulations. Through the Vice President of Compliance, the CAO develops, maintains, and oversees the corporate compliance program, conducting annual evaluations of the plan’s effectiveness to ensure that all required elements of the compliance program are addressed. The CAO is a member of the Corporate Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors and is responsible for regular reporting to the board and senior management on the operation and progress of compliance efforts. The CAO is expected to be proactive and identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
The CAO will also oversee the Human Resources department through the Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR). S/he will oversee the development of the organization’s plans and programs as a strategic partner, particularly from the perspective of the impact on people. In concert with the VP of HR, the CAO evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning of new programs/strategies and regulatory action as those items affect the attraction, motivation, development and retention of the people resources of the organization. The CAO also oversees the development of staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the organization for positions of responsibility.
The CAO assumes full management responsibility for the Food Service, Transportation, and Facilities departments services and activities including operations, service delivery, and oversight of related policies and procedures. S/he will develop and implement the departmental goals, objectives, policies and priorities. The CAO will also conduct a thorough review and evaluation of systems and processes to ensure efficiency and continuity across the agency.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare, Human Services, Organizational Development, or a related field, with at least ten years of experience in a healthcare operations role and a minimum of ten years of experience in a healthcare or behavioral health compliance role; of which at least five years should be in an executive leadership role. S/he will possess demonstrable experience using data systems to improve program performance and outcomes with the analytical skills needed to review large volumes of information regarding regulations and guidelines. Demonstrated experience with complex contract negotiation, interpretation, and compliance is required. The position also requires demonstrated entrepreneurial ability to develop alliances and coordinate shared interests of all parties, with excellent communications and problem-solving skills designed to meet the challenges of the fast-paced healthcare industry. A track record of successful change management, process improvement, and organizational performance improvement is essential for success in this role, along with demonstrated experience in human resources, organizational development, and strategic planning. The successful incumbent will have advanced knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and standards, with a thorough understanding of coding and reimbursement systems and laws.
