New 2026 Survey Highlights How Nonprofits Are Evolving Compensation, Benefits
OneDigital’s Nonprofit Center of Excellence reveals compensation, benefits trends shaping social sector
Washington, D.C. — January 30, 2026 — OneDigital released findings from the 2026 Nonprofit Total Rewards Practices Survey, drawing insights from more than 300 nonprofit, associations, and social impact organizations nationwide. The survey provides a clear view of how social impact leaders are aligning compensation and benefits strategies with evolving workforce expectations and organizational priorities.
The data highlights a few notable trends: nonprofits are increasingly expanding executive employee benefits (47%), actively gathering employee feedback through surveys, focus groups, and utilization data (61%), and continuing to champion affordability and stability in their offerings as a central strategy for supporting staff, reinforcing engagement, and advancing mission impact. Even amid resource constraints, organizations are seeking to design total rewards programs that reflect their values, foster equity, and retain top talent.
