Nonprofit Executive Search Solutions has successfully placed Melanie Sellers, MPH, an experienced public health executive, as Assistant Chief Executive Officer with the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE).

Selected from a very talented and diverse applicant pool, Sellers brings an impressive background and array of skills to SOPHE’s management team, including significant experiences spanning the nonprofit sector.

“From the moment I first evaluated Melanie Sellers professional credentials, I knew she would be a leading candidate for the SOPHE position,” said Benjamin Freedman Executive Search Consultant, Nonprofit Executive Search Solutions. “This was not only confirmed but reinforced throughout the comprehensive search.  Ms. Sellers not only has all the business savvy necessary to lead a nonprofit public health organization but a passion for public health that is unmatched. It was evident not only in her work product, but in her attitude that this is not just a job — but a calling.”

Most recently, Sellers worked for the Booz Allen Hamilton as a Healthcare Analyst, and previously for the Capital City Area Health Education Center as the Executive Director.  During her career she has developed many public health related initiatives while simultaneously balancing efforts to fine-tune existing programs, plans and operations.

“With recent legislative changes in healthcare, the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is positioned to have a tremendous impact on the health of our communities through the advancement of the health education profession and health promotion,” said Sellers.  “My personal and professional values align with SOPHE’s mission and I am thrilled to join the organization. It will be an honor to assist SOPHE’s leaders, staff, and members with navigating the opportunities and challenges associated with developing a premier public health organization.”

Sellers earned her Master’s of Public Health Degree from the University of South Florida in Health Policy & Management with a concentration in Health Care Organizations & Management. Additionally, Sellers holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chemistry.
