Happy Women’s Equality Day!

Today, people across the nation are celebrating Women’s Equality Day. According to the National Women’s History Alliance, Women’s Equality Day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which prohibits state and governments from denying the right to vote to U.S. citizens on the basis of sex. The 19th amendment was first introduced in 1878 and was ratified in 1920 ending decades-long protests. In 1971, the U.S. Congress designated August 26th as Women’s Equality Day.

Equality is core to Nonprofit HR’s values and founding principles. As a woman-owned firm, Nonprofit HR’s senior leadership is more than 50% female and women are represented in every practice area of the firm and at every level. We empower women on our team with the tools they need to create success for our clients, the firm and their professions. Our focus on diversity has been critical to our success, and women have been at the forefront of it.

Despite lingering inequality in the workforce in terms of pay and leadership, women continue to make great strides in nonprofit and for-profit sectors. As strong advocates for the effective and impactful use of organizational talent, we remain committed to partnering with our clients to advance the role of women in the workplace and to close gaps in pay between women and men at every level wherever they exist.

As you celebrate women today, we encourage you to highlight professionals in your organization who are doing great things on behalf of your mission!
