Work for Nonprofit HR

Our Culture

Focused on building a culture of innovation, inclusion and empowerment and deeply committed to advancing flexibility, authenticity and opportunity.

Employees have described Nonprofit HR’s culture as unique.

In fact, some employees have said what they heard about the organization seemed too good to be true, and then found a truly positive experience for themselves. They say they appreciate our entrepreneurial, collegial and supportive work environment.

Although our staff primarily works virtually, we strive to increase trust and inclusion, strengthen teams and build strong relationships among staff. We are committed to advancing authenticity and empowerment and have a continuous open feedback culture.

Our Commitment to Our People

Given our knowledge of best practices in talent management and our commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and justice (EDIJ), we center our people in all that we do and prioritize the employee experience.

Nonprofit HR supports the development of our employees through career mobility and our learning and development program. Our staff also note feeling a sense of purpose due to our work supporting the talent needs of social sector organizations with varying missions and sizes.

Our Employee Benefits

Nonprofit HR provides employees with a comprehensive benefits package focused on physical and mental well-being. Our benefits include:

  • Flexible schedules
  • Flexible/open leave/paid time off
  • Subsidizing health, dental and vision for employees and programs
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Wellness subsidy
  • Home office stipend
  • Flexible spending accounts
  • Paid holidays
  • Professional development
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Internal EDIJ Advisory Team and Affinity Groups

Nonprofit HR established an Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Justice (EDIJ) Advisory Team in 2020 to help the firm provide a more robust internal EDIJ-centric culture in all activities at Nonprofit HR. This internal, staff-led EDIJ Advisory Team directly influences and advises the firm’s leadership in developing a culture and strategy that highly values equity and actively demonstrates anti-racism and intentional inclusion firmwide. The EDIJ Advisory Team develops and executes bold outcome-based strategies to combat workplace inequities and fosters a culture of respect and inclusion for all.

Nonprofit HR believes in providing brave spaces for networking, resources sharing and community building. One such way is through affinity groups. This effort promotes diversity, equity and inclusion at its core. Activity within our affinity groups varies and may include a safe place to socialize, support EDIJ dialogue programs, and provide input from an EDIJ perspective into Nonprofit HR’s policies, programs and practices.

We currently host affinity groups for staff of the following identities:

  • BIPOC — Black, Indigenous, People of Color
  • Disabilities
  • LGBTQIA+
  • Parenting Minor Children

Coming Soon: Multigenerational Affinity Group!

Saluting the Wins of Our Team!

Nonprofit HR Staff Story: Laura Laney, SHRM-CP

How do you see HR changing in the next five to ten years?

This pandemic has proven, once again, how vital HR is to an organization. I truly believe HR will continue to increase as the go-to strategic partner for organizations who wish to be around in the next 5-10 years. The needs of employees in the workplace have changed significantly, and HR will be leading the charge on not only meeting these needs, but planning for the future.

Nonprofit HR Staff Story: Jami Armstrong

What’s your favorite aspect of talent management?

When I have clients and candidates that share how my efforts positively impacted their experience. I feel that Executive Search is a natural fit for the skills I’ve acquired over the many years I have been in recruiting. This role gives me the opportunity to combine both my skills in sales and communication to achieve tangible results that position me to add value to my team. My sales background has also trained me to be client-centric and focused, and in this role, I get two clients to manage, our client organizations and our candidates. The hiring process can be intense, and it is rewarding to hear how my efforts and the efforts of my teammates positively impacted their interview and engagement experience.
